Lyrics:
[Verse 1]
“There must be some kind of way out of here”
Said the joker to the thief
“There’s too much confusion
I can’t get no relief
Businessmen they drink my wine
Plowmen dig my earth
None will level on the line
Nobody offered his word”
Hey!
[Verse 2]
“No reason to get excited”
The thief, he kindly spoke
“There are many here among us
Who feel that life is but a joke
But, uh, but you and I, we’ve been through that
And this is not our fate
So let us stop talkin’ falsely now
The hour’s getting late
Hey!
[Guitar Solo]
Hey!
[Verse 3]
All along the watchtower
Princes kept the view
While all the women came and went
Barefoot servants too
Well, uh, outside in the cold distance
A wildcat did growl
Two riders were approaching
And the wind began to howl
Hey!
[Outro]
All along the watchtower
All along the watchtower

4 months agoAccording to a poster Jimi once said. "When the power of love is greater than the love for power. There will be peace". That's not the only reason for no peace. Oppression from persons in governments with dictators, bad and corrupted leaders is also reasons for war.

4 months agoHendrix All Along the Watch Tower is my favorite recording period of all rock songs.
Did I think Hendrix was the best rock guitarist? No. But the most innovative.
Clapton, George Harrison, Jeff Lynne are my faves honestly and that's tied to both their songs and performances.
Is Dylan my favorite songwriter / singer? Yes, probably. His voice is perfect for his songs.
The first time I heard Like A Rolling Stone or Subterranean Homesick Blues, Blowing in the Wind, Girl from the North Country were so memorable, I can't get it out of my mind.
Many more songs of his bring tears to my eyes even when I hear them today.
His songs and persona are unmatched in their dramatic, almost disdainful tone, attention-grabbing, and not only for the 1960s-1970s, but for all times.
I was only about 13 years old when I first heard him.
I saw Hendrix in person in 1967 and it was impressive, but it was chaotic sounding like maybe they were a little too high or something.
For me Jimi's music is better on recordings rather than in person.
Led Zeppelin I also liked less well in concert than recordings, but others disagreed with me on this.
My favorite live concerts of all time were:
The Who (Who's Next tour, 1971 Saratoga NY Performing Arts Center),
Pink Floyd (1972, Dark Side of the Moon tour, Saratoga Performing Arts Center),
George Harrison et al Concert for Bangladesh, Madison Square Garden 1st show). This was the only Bob Dylan concert I saw in person, but it was great! Although George and Eric were great, Bob was special for me.
George was so right to wait for Bob to show up late by about an hour it seems.
There were 2 Bruce Springsteen & E Treet Band concerts at the Bottom Line NYC in 1974, 1975 that were fantastic. Stood like 15 feet from the stage.
Of course, 1973 Watkins Glen Raceway was The Band, Grateful Dead, & Allman Brothers…fantastic 600k people.

4 months agonow I'm convinced that Eddie Van Halen lifted a few notes, from this for 'Beat it'. maybe not even fully concious of it. I don't think he needed to take ideas from other guitarists. but I always thought this. I'm an old, pushing 70, Hendrix fan, and have heard it on radio maybe a hundred times too many.
