Lyrics
photograph of us
in a spotlight
on a hot night
i was drifting in & out
reticent on the off chance
i’m blunter than a bullseye
begging for peace of mind
i get ahead of myself
bracing for a bombshell
your love written on a blank check
wear it around your neck
i was at a loss
but you come to me on a fault line
deep inside a goldmine
hovering like a moth
i lose a bit of myself
laying out eggshells
i’ve been yours for so long
we come right back to it
i let my mind run wild
don’t know why i do it
but you just settle in
like a song with no end
if i can keep up
we’ll get right back to it
if i swerve in & out of my lane
burning up an old flame
turn a jealous eye
i’ll fall down into a fair game
lick a wound that was not
ever mine
i get ahead of myself
refusing anyone’s help
i’ve been yours for so long
we come right back to it
i let my mind run wild
i don’t know why i do it
but you just settle in
like a song with no end
if i can keep up
we’ll get right back to it
i’ve been yours for so long
we come right back to it
i let my mind run wild
don’t know why i do it
but you just settle in
like a song with no end
if i can keep up
we’ll get right back to it
we’ll get right back to it
we’ll get right back to it

5 months agoI don't typically comment on songs, but this one takes me places. The contrasts in the lyrics, melody, and video; the building of simple layers into a complex finishing that penetrares the soul are astounding. The chaos her mind and the soothing peace of his forgiving heart while traveling slow on a serene channel of water, together but not in close physical proximity to one another; still content with each other. also being so relatable to anyone who listens. "I get ahead of myself, refusing anyone's help" we all been there. Masterpiece

5 months agoI have never once ever liked any song that sounded remotely close to this. This however is a perfect example of a magical song. Once in a long while, a masterfully written poem will grace us all with its presence and make us appreciate the ones we love that much more. Thank you for this song. How beautiful.

4 months agowhen you have to take over driving because your boyfriend can no longer fight that dark passenger and feeds the intrusive thoughts to play folk guitar solos on the front of a pontoon in a swamp. #couplegoals
